Sorrisniva is a well-established tourism company that started in Alta with riverboat and snowmobile safaris. What began as a family business evolved over the years to create Norway’s first ice hotel in 2000, called the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel. As the name suggests, it provides ice rooms sculpted every year with a unique theme by its own ice sculptors.
Almost everything on the premises is made of snow and ice – including the ice bar, ice restaurant, and the ice chapel! The rooms are kept warm with reindeer hides as curtains and mattresses, and cosy sleeping bags to stay warm at night. There are double rooms, family rooms, and suites available for accommodation. Other facilities like restrooms are at an accessible reach in a separate warm lodge that offers free WiFi.
Apart from igloo rooms, the hotel provides activities like a guided tour of the hotel and several tours in the nearby areas, including snowshoe trips, ice sculpting, Northern Lights experience, snowmobiling, and an array of arctic adventures.
